Coffee hills, emerald lake & Shevaroy mist

The 'Jewel of the South' — a quiet, unhurried hill station in the Shevaroy Hills at 1,515 m, just an hour above Salem. Yercaud trades crowds for coffee estates, orange groves, silver-oak forest roads and misty escarpments. Row across Emerald Lake, watch the plains melt into haze from Pagoda Point, walk down to Killiyur Falls and sip single-estate coffee where it is grown.
Every Yercaud journey we design is grounded in local relationships — vetted hotels, hand-picked guides and a curator on call whenever you need us. This itinerary suits couples, families and small groups seeking a balance of iconic sights, culture and quiet time.
Pickup from Salem airport, junction or Coimbatore, then the famous 20-hairpin-bend climb up the Shevaroy Hills with a photo halt at the 12th bend viewpoint over the Salem plains. Check in to your hill resort by afternoon. Easy evening at Yercaud Lake — pedal and rowing boats, Anna Park next door and hot bajji stalls along the lake road. Dinner at the resort.
Early start for sunrise at Pagoda Point, where stacked stone cairns look out over layered blue ridges and mist filling the valley. Continue to Lady's Seat, Gent's Seat and Children's Seat on the western escarpment, followed by the Yercaud telescope house. Afternoon drive through shola forest to the Servaroyan Temple at 5,326 ft — the highest point in the Shevaroys — and the Kiliyur valley lookouts. Sunset back at Lady's Seat over the Salem city lights.
Guided walk through a working coffee and orange estate — arabica under silver-oak shade, pepper vines, jackfruit and a cupping session of fresh single-estate brew. Late morning, the forest descent to Killiyur Falls (about 300 steps and a short trail) where the Kiliyur stream drops nearly 100 ft into a rock pool. Afternoon at the Rose Garden, Botanical Garden and the Montfort school heritage stretch, ending with shopping for estate coffee, honey, silver-oak carvings and homemade orange marmalade.
A last unhurried hill morning — an optional Deer Park or Bear's Cave visit, or simply coffee on the resort deck over the valley. Check out and descend the ghat road, with a stop at the Salem silk and mango stalls on request, before your transfer to Salem or Coimbatore for the onward flight or train.

The nearest railway station and airport are at Salem, just 32 km away — about an hour up the ghat road. Coimbatore (190 km) and Bengaluru (220 km) are the closest larger airports. We include private AC transfers from Salem or Coimbatore in this package.
Yercaud is quieter, greener and far less commercial. There are no crowded boat queues or bazaar traffic — it is coffee estates, forest roads and viewpoints you often have to yourself. It suits travellers wanting a restful hill break rather than a busy tourist circuit.
Yes. Two nights covers the lake, main viewpoints and an estate walk comfortably. Our 4-day format adds Killiyur Falls, the Servaroyan Temple drive and unhurried estate time, which is what most guests say they enjoyed most.
Absolutely — the lake, viewpoints, gardens and estate walk are all easy and vehicle-accessible. Only the Killiyur Falls descent is strenuous; we happily swap it for a Deer Park and Bear's Cave visit or extra leisure time.
You can, and the hills are stunning in green, but expect fog at Pagoda Point and Lady's Seat and occasional restrictions at the falls. For guaranteed views, October to February is the safer window.
Single-estate arabica coffee beans and powder, wild forest honey, homemade orange marmalade and jams, silver-oak wood craft, eucalyptus and citronella oils, and home-made chocolates from the lake-road stalls.
Yes — it pairs naturally with Mysore–Coorg–Ooty, Kodaikanal or a Salem–Thanjavur temple circuit. Tell us your total days and we will build a single seamless itinerary with all transfers included.
